Community Coaching
What is coaching?
EBCDA is committed to growing a coaching culture within the east Belfast community sector which will give individuals access to a resource and service.
‘…Coaching is an opportunity to call a halt to the frantic pace of doing and to refocus on being. It enables people to challenge their routines, to take a critical look at what they are doing and why, to identify and commit to new goals and to work out how to overcome the barriers that prevent them being more effective in their work roles…’
(David Clutterbuck and David Megginson, 2005, p7)
There are many definitions of coaching but EBCDA‘s Coaching Framework Definition is:
Coaching is a series of conversations between the coach and coachee which provide space to think, learn and reflect to maximise personal and professional potential.
EBCDA formed a coaching working group in 2021 and developed the East Belfast Coaching Framework. This aims to provide coaching opportunities for individuals to be the best they can be, for their own personal development and the development of their organisations.
The framework is underpinned by the following values:
- Community
- Empowerment
- Integrity
- Kindness
Our coaches have ILM level 5 Coaching, will adhere to the Global Code of Ethics and are members of Association for Coaching.
