The volunteer work that is done in East Belfast is split up into the following areas:
- To promote and raise awareness of the benefits of Volunteering and promote Good Practice. This is done by recruiting volunteers from all over the Belfast area and making sure we help them to have an enjoyable experience of volunteering. We also help community groups look at what they do with volunteers when they get them in terms of looking after them well within their organisation.
- To build links between groups that use volunteers and encourage co-operation between those groups so that we have a strong network within the East Belfast Area as regards all things volunteering
-
To help groups in the East Belfast area recruit volunteers. This can include running there own recruitment campaign in the local areas in which they have their organisations.
- To create a solid ‘bank’ of volunteers to support groups in East Belfast so that if larger one off tasks happen such as environmental clean ups then there are lots of volunteers we can call up who would be willing to help do that particular job.
-
To facilitate links with outside volunteering/support schemes so that East Belfast doesn’t become isolated from the rest of the volunteering happening in the greater Belfast area and beyond.
- To increase volunteer activity by Groups under-represented in the volunteering population, including unemployed people, people form Ethnic minority backgrounds and also people with disabilities.
